— 2017 Embedded System Security Forum, Shanghai, China
The 3rd session of Embedded System Security Forum (Shanghai) was successfully held in Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel on Oct. 26th. The forum was hosted by China National Electronic Equipment Corporation and Science and Education Commission of China Electronic Information Industry Group, organized by China Electronics Exhibition & Information Communication Co., Ltd., China Software Industry Association Embedded System Branch and Embedded System Beijing Forum.
The forum invited China Software Industry Association Embedded System Branch Vice Chairman Allan He, Beihang University School of Software Engineering Vice Dean Ji Wu, STMicroelectronics MCU Product Marketing Engineer Jun Tan, ARM China Senior Technical Marketing Manager Junchao Wang, Texas Instruments Senior Support Engineer Haijin Zhang, Nagoya University (Japan) Dr. Kurachi, TUV Sud Intelligent Power Grip and Information Security department Shengwu Zeng, Shanghai Zhaoxin Integrated Circuit Senior Software Engineer Gangru Xue, Shenzhen Quanzhida Technology Co. Ltd. Vice General Manager Xuhui Hu, NSFocus Security Researcher Xing Zhang and other experts the industry and researchers/professors within higher education, to discuss hot topics and innovative designs for embedded system security technical solutions.
Morning agenda was hosted by Beihang University School of Software Engineering Vice Dean Ji Wu. In the opening speeches by China Electronics Exhibition & Information Communication Co., Ltd. General Manager Wei Song and China Software Industry Association Embedded System Branch Vice Chairman Allan He, Allan mentioned that Embedded System Security is domain that requires talents from multiple areas and background; it comes with a great deal of in-depth cooperation.
Beihang University School of Software Engineering Vice Dean Ji Wu delivered his speech titled “Development and Challenges of Functional-oriented Security in Embedded System” next. He double-clicked on the disastrous consequences of software failure in security-related scenarios, and mentioned the vast amount of research done within the industry and academic about systematic safety where modeling, interlayer op and AI application were main focuses.
STMicroelectronics MCU Product Marketing Engineer Jun Tan talked on “STM32 and Connected Things Security” where he discussed about marketing strategy and security characteristic of STM32.
ARM China Senior Technical Marketing Manager Junchao Wang presented “Secure Platform Architecture for IoT”. He presented challenges in IoT security design and how ARM applied secure architecture application from mobile to IoT. By providing appropriate fundamental security functionalities, like software/hardware security architecture, isolation and API interfaces, to different applications and markets, ARM helps provide point-to-point security for a more trusted IoT.
“Use TI Hercules MCU to Simplify Security Certification in Traditional Systems” was the topic of Texas Instruments Senior Support Engineer Haijin Zhang. He mentioned the high hardware diagnostic coverage of Hercules MCU can simplify complex security software in terms of performance and code side. With ARM Cortex-R MCU (core frequency 80MHz to 330MHz), it can offload tasks on CPU; it can also remove development overhead as the chip comes with various compatible extensions.
Agenda in the afternoon was hosted by China Software Industry Association Embedded System Branch Vice Chairman Allan He.
Nagoya University (Japan) Dr. Kurachi introduced automobile system and security measures in his speech “Current and Future of Automotive Security”.
TUV Sud Intelligent Power Grip and Information Security department Shengwu Zeng gave an introductory talk “IEC 62443 Based Industrial Information Security” on the most widely accepted industry information security standard.
Shanghai Zhaoxin Integrated Circuit Senior Software Engineer Gangru Xue explained Zhaoxin’s embedded/industry control x86 solution and hardware security in his speech “China’s x86 Solution and Embedded/Industry Control Security”.
Shenzhen Quanzhida Technology Co. Ltd. Vice General Manager Xuhui Hu emphasized the importance of security in the era of IoT in his keynote “Security in the Connected World”. Terminal and node based total security solution is the new direction of security. Quanwangxin security solution uses latest hardware-software integration technology, and can be used in secure communication, intelligent home/healthcare/factory, automobile network and many other fields.
The last speaker, NSFocus Security Researcher Xing Zhang, shared IoT edge protection research works done at NSFocus
with “Edge Protection of IoT”.
During the forum, the audience and speakers discussed freely in the Q&A sessions.
